Presto Pizzazz Plus

The Pizzazz is a rotating oven. It features two triangular heating elements, one above and one below a rotating aluminium dish. The upper element has a fan to facilitate convection.

The Pizzazz was kindly donated to the space by member sirocyl.

Use

Risk of electric shock, burns: Do not plug it in yet.

Note:

If cooking individual small items, you may wish to boop or flip them occasionally to cook them evenly and prevent sticking.
  1. Place center pivot of Pizzazz dish on the peg on the edge of the bottom element.
  2. Ensure the dish is located into the peg properly. It will rotate and “click” into place.
  3. Now plug in the unit. Ensure the dish rotates freely.
  4. Put food to be heated on the dish.
  5. Select “Upper”, “Lower” or “Dual” cooking elements. Dual is recommended. There is a menu of recommended cook times and element selections for pizza on the back of the unit.
  6. Set the cook time. Unit will begin heating as soon as dial is turned.
  7. Supervise. Unit will “ding” when done. To stop early, turn the dial down to “0” until a “ding” is sounded.
  8. Remove food from dish. Do not cut pizza or food on dish. Do not use metal tools to remove food from dish. Use plastic tongs.
  9. Wait at least 5 minutes for unit to cool down.
  10. Unplug, then remove dish.

Exercise caution when moving the unit after cooking. The cooking elements may still be HOT several minutes after use. Carry by the plastic body.

In Case Of Fire

  1. Unplug unit.
  2. Once unplugged: Use water. Small amounts of grease (e.g., hot dogs, sausages) are not enough to cause flare-ups.
  3. If that fails, use fire blanket or extinguisher as necessary.
  4. Follow fire protocol.

Care and handling

Supervise cooking.

Cleaning

No part of the Pizzazz is dishwasher-safe.

Unplug unit before cleaning.

The dish

Hand wash the dish with hot water (jet spray setting preferable), paper towels and if necessary, light dish soap only.

Do not place dish in dishwasher.

Make sure all soap is thoroughly washed off all surfaces before use/storage.

Do not use excessive force, scraping, or scrub with abrasives. This will remove the non-stick layer, which may cause it to leach off into food; and will ruin the dish. Replacements are somewhat costly.

The main unit

Vacuum or shake the crumbs out of it regularly. Wash surfaces with a towel, clean rag or cloth and warm, soapy water.

Do not use solvents (alcohol, ammonia, acetone) on plastic.

You may choose to use a brush and mild to moderate detergent on the inner (heat-shield and element) parts.

Ensure all soap is rinsed away/scrubbed off of the heated parts, especially the elements, else they will smoke off with a terrible stink and may impact the flavor of cooking food.

Safety

Make sure to run the unit for at least 5 minutes after cooking with the elements off (timer at “0”) before unplugging.

Make sure food is completely onto the dish. Overhanging food can be a fire hazard and will contact the back of the unit, causing a mess.

Make sure food completely fits under top element, and will NEVER contact top element.

Do not cook rising foods that will contact upper element.

Rules to remember

Do not oil, grease or butter the cooking dish. The dish is non-stick coated. Stuck-on crumbs, food or grease will rinse off under hot water, or pick off with a fingernail, brush or soft plastic utensil.

DO NOT scrape pan, or use metal tools on pan.

NEVER cut pizza on pan. Use a cutting board, or use the cardboard from the pizza box/wrap as a cutting surface.
