+# Closing the Space
+As a member, you have the collective responsibility to keep the space clean and locked up by the time everyone leaves.
+## Closing Checklist
+- Clean up after yourself:
+  - Do not leave equipment around when you leave.
+  - Do not leave food waste outside the trash bin.
+- Ensure no dishes too old are left in the sink.
+  - You don't have to wash them if they're not yours (unless they've sat there for several days), but please keep note of this and remind others via chat.
+- Ensure the space doesn't have too much trash by the time you close. If there is, consider [throwing them out](/space/procedures/trash), but only if it is safe to do so.
+- Turn off all main lights, especially ceiling lights.
+  - If any bright light cannot be turned off and a note hasn't been made before, please make one.
+  - Ambient and decorative lights (e.g. string lights) can stay on 24/7.
+- Ensure the door latch is fully latched down, and that you cannot pull the door open without unlocking.
+- Ensure the door is locked as you leave. Give it a shove from outside to make sure.
